Three generations of the tight-knit Breeding family have worked for South Australian agricultural company AJ&PA McBride, amassing more than 225 years of loyal service.

Story By Tom Dawkins

When Simon Breeding started his new job on Konetta Station at Greenways in South Australia in May, it marked the continuation of one of the great relationships between two families in modern Australian agriculture. Simon and his cousin Leisa are the third generation of Breedings to embark on a career with South Australian pastoralists and graziers, AJ&PA McBride Pty Ltd.
This enduring association had its foundations in South Australia’s north-east at Yunta, where Simon and Leisa’s grandfather Vic Breeding Snr was appointed manager of McBrides’ Teetulpa Station in 1962. Vic Snr and wife Joan raised a daughter and five sons at Teetulpa.
Remarkably all five sons – Vic Jnr, Lindsay, Warren, Kingsley and Grant – have followed the lead of their father and built long careers working for McBrides. Now over the three generations, the Breedings have amassed more than 225 years of service with the company, which was founded in 1920 and has grown to be one of Australia’s biggest wool producers.
