Occupying prime position over the road from the serene Denmark River on the south coast of WA, a refreshed Denmark Hotel now provides the food, drinks and atmosphere befitting this idyllic spot. The Denmark Hotel revamp was the talk of the town during 2024, as regulars made the most of Sunday roasts and cheap beer in the first half of the year before a six-month shutdown. A major renovation followed, and the hotel reopened in time for the school holidays last December. It’s now settling into a new groove that managers Ali Osborne and Andries Mostert consider fitting for the hotel’s centenary next year.

Ali says the hotel has come back to being a meeting place – groups as diverse as the soccer club, Probus and dragon boat club now have their meetings at the hotel. “It’s a really nice community hub. And it has the best view in town. It’s magnificent.” Both the bar’s dining area and the adjacent bistro dining room have big windows looking out onto the balcony and, beyond, to the green of Berridge Park and the Denmark River.
