John Bennett was named the Rural Farming Legend of the Year in the Farmer of the Year Awards in Canberra in August. The awards are supported by R.M.Williams OUTBACK, as well as the Kondinin Group and the ABC.

For more than 60 years John has helped shape the Tasmanian and Australian dairy industries through research and innovation. His family enterprise, Ashgrove Farms at Elizabeth Town, in northern Tasmania, is one of the most successful dairy-farming family businesses in Australia, employing about 100 people. Ashgrove Cheese is one of Australia’s leading premium independent dairy brands and on-farm producers.
