Scott Giltrap was so determined that the pub in pretty Mitta Mitta not close that he enlisted his friends to help him buy and renovate it.

Story By Sue Wallace

Rusty washing-machine tubs, barbed wire and the pièce de résistance – the façade of an old Bedford truck – all feature in the decor of the popular Mitta Pub that has recently undergone an extensive facelift.
A one-hour drive from Albury, NSW, Mitta Mitta sits on the junction of the Mitta Mitta River and Snowy Creek and has a permanent population of 30. Three years ago, Albury gynaecologist, cattle farmer and businessman Scott Giltrap, who grew up in Mitta and still has a house and several rural properties in the area, heard the pub was in danger of closing.
